無(wú)論采用哪種涂裝工藝，對(duì)基板的技術(shù)要求都越來(lái)越高。大多鋼基彩涂板要求平整鋅花，零鋅花熱鍍鋅鋼卷或電鍍鋅鋼卷，近年有增加以熱鍍鋅鋁，等合金鍍層鋼板作基板的趨勢(shì)；貼膜彩涂板采用冷軋卷做基板，某些高端產(chǎn)品還以不銹鋼做基板。無(wú)論采用哪種基板，對(duì)其表面，板形及尺寸精度均有很高的要求。
